Living in Light and Confessing Sins (1John 1:5-10)

LIVING IN LIGHT AND CONFESSING SINS (1JOHN 1:5-10):

Apostle John writes the things for complete joy by saying what they had heard from Jesus and proclaimed to the believers. Apostle John says that God is light and in Him, there is no darkness at all. God is compared to light, which makes everything visible and which cannot be hidden. God is the author and source of everything and He alone could give the direction and purpose for every creation and no one can deny God really and reasonably. God never does things that are imperfect and unrighteous as there is no darkness in Him. If a person says that he has fellowship with God while walking in darkness, it’s a lie and the person doesn’t practice truth, as both are contradictory. The communion with God makes a person love and fear God, for who He is and the person is aware that God knew the feelings, thoughts, and actions. If the person’s attitude or intentions are not aligning with the Word of life, then surely he would be walking in the darkness. That person may show as if he is having fellowship with God, but it would be a lie and the person is not practicing the truth.
Apostle John acknowledges that if the believers walk in the light, as God is in the light, the believers have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus, God’s Son cleanses the believers from all sins. If a person walks in the light, he would be clear with the direction and purpose which is according to God’s Commandments, which would be beneficial to the person, and also the person could be beneficial to the fellow believers by encouraging and supporting them to walk upright and Godly by having fellowship with one another. The believers who had accepted Jesus is surely cleansed from all sin as everyone has sinned. Apostle John says that the blood of Jesus, God’s son who paid the ransom by subjecting himself as a sacrifice once for all, cleanses them from all sin. If believers say, they have no sin, they deceive themselves and truth is not in them, because everyone is deprived physically, mentally or emotionally at least at certain tempting, uncontrolled or unexpected moments.
No one could ever say that they are without sin as the nature of human beings is so much corrupted because of the sinful nature and influence of the environment. But God knows all our weaknesses and if believers confess sins, God is faithful and just to forgive them their sins and to cleanse them from all unrighteousness. Renewing the self very often through retrospection and confession for reconciliation with God helps everyone to be cleansed from all the unrighteousness that’s done knowingly or unknowingly. If believers say they have not sinned, they make God a liar and God’s word is not in them. God, who knew everything even the unseen thoughts acknowledges that there is no one righteous and it is affirmed by many authors of the scriptures.
