Final Wish and Note (2 John 1:12-13)
FINAL WISH AND NOTE (2
JOHN 1:12-13):
Apostle John concludes his
second epistle with final wishes. He writes that though he has much to write
to them, he would rather not use paper and ink, instead, he hopes to go to the
recipients and talk face to face, so that their joy may be complete. The
Apostle John has a closer and Godly relationship with the recipients who would
be a believing lady and her children or the church as a whole. Apostle John
has so many things to write unto them which could be for their spiritual
growth or social awareness in order to please God through their life. Still, he
was careful to write to them everything that is related to the greatest
commandment of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, which is a necessity for
every believer. Also, writing so many things may not be felt appropriate towards
the recipients by the author, instead, the author thinks that talking to them directly would be more effective and lively. Also, the relationships are valuable and closer in the direct encounter, with the completeness of Joy.
Apostle John writes that
the children of the recipient’s elect sister greet the recipient. Apostle John was
very much interested in the people and he was careful to mention the
greeting of the children of the elect sister who were known to the recipient. The children
of the elect sister could be a blood sister’s children or the young fellow
believers or another church of believers who had sent the greetings to the
recipient.
Stimulations for
Self-Reflection:
1. What the author does not
use, though he has much to write?
2. What does the author hope?
3. Why does the author hope
to go to the recipient and talk face to face?
4. Who greets along with the
author?
5. Who could be the children
of the elect sister of the recipient?
6. How we can greet our
fellow believers?
